The semester is almost over but I have zero desire to do any more work. I don't even want to paint a series I used to be excited about.
Our kitchen is a disaster area. New cabinets are sort of in. By sort of I mean that not all of the cabinets are here and our contractor put some in the wrong places. I am starting to think it would be easier to just do it ourselves. The deck is finally finished though and it looks amazing, the people that were in charge of that part of the project were very skilled at their job.

"Everybody's lost, but they are pretending they are not"

I turned 30 a couple months ago and I find that it has left me constantly evaluating my life. Not because I have a problem with being 30, because I don't, but because I feel like there should be some sort of contemplation on the 3 decades I have lived through. The last decade has been a rollercoaster of new experiences complete with new friends.. and sadly saying goodbye when I was in desperate need of a change. Life has definitely changed. 5 years I have been on the East Coast, complete with it's bitter winters and grumpy attitudes. 5 years and my life is heading in such a surprisingly 'normal' fashion that I am amazed. Marriage, home ownership, studying to be a teacher. It almost sounds like I am chasing a white picket fence. I'm not.
Any chance I had at having one of those disappointing brithdays was squashed by the secret weekend in New York that Matt planned for me. It is a true test of our love that he planned it so perfectly. Not many other people would consider a few days of art museums as a wonderful time, but for me that is exactly what it was. We also went to a wonderful little comedy club and saw Colin Quinn and some other less funny comedians. It was something that I will always remember. Matt really is the best.
Also.
Meet our new love, Amy Doghouse.
(All that mess behind Amy is our kitchen packed in boxes. Our kitchen is currently being remodeled and therefore life is a disarray.)
I've got maybe 6 other blogs that I sporadically update for different purposes but for whatever reason I felt that maybe a blog about random everyday stuff would be a good idea. I have enough family and friends that I mostly keep in touch with through the internet that at least when I am absolutely terrible at keeping in touch as per usual they can hear some of the ridiculousness I call life.
